Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a 2800 MW nuclear power project worth ₹45,000 crore at Napla village in Banswara on 25th September. This will be Rajasthan’s second nuclear power project after Rawatbhata, making Southern Rajasthan a hub of nuclear energy production.

Employment and Development Packages
The project promises employment opportunities in tribal regions of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will inaugurate development schemes worth ₹1.08 lakh crore and distribute appointment letters to 15,000 youths. He will also launch the Vande Bharat train from Bikaner and Jodhpur to Delhi and a direct Udaipur–Chandigarh train service virtually.

Unfulfilled Dreams and Rising Expectations
Late Chief Minister Haridev Joshi transformed the region through the Mahi project, but his dream of bringing railways to Banswara remains incomplete. With the nuclear project, there is renewed hope that the Ratlam–Banswara–Dungarpur railway will gain momentum and connect the district to the national railway network.

Irrigation and Fisheries Opportunities
Completion of pending Mahi project works could irrigate vast tracts of land. The backwaters of the Mahi dam also hold great potential for fisheries, which can make tribal communities economically self-reliant.

Tourism and Cultural Heritage
Known as the “City of Hundred Islands,” Banswara offers immense tourism potential. Heritage sites, including Tripura Sundari, Beneshwar Dham, Galiyakot Dargah, and the historic Mangarh Dham, need national recognition to attract visitors and preserve tribal history.
