Sri Ganganagar, September 24, 2025: The Indian Railways will operate special inaugural Vande Bharat trains connecting Jodhpur-Delhi Cantt, Bikaner-Delhi Cantt, and Udaipur City-Chandigarh-Udaipur City. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will flag off these services via video conferencing from Banswara, Rajasthan, on September 25, 2025.

Key dignitaries will attend ceremonies at respective stations, including Rail Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and MoS Law & Justice Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal.

The Jodhpur-Delhi Cantt inaugural train departs 14:30 from Jodhpur, with stops at major stations like Jaipur, Alwar, and Rewari, while the Bikaner and Udaipur-Chandigarh services follow similar schedules. The trains feature AC Chair Cars, Executive Chair Cars, Sleeper, and General coaches. Regular operations for these trains will commence later in September.

In a separate development, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, has approved the doubling of the 104 km Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya single railway line in Bihar at an estimated cost of ₹2,192 crore. The project will improve connectivity for four districts, including tourist and pilgrimage sites such as Rajgir (Shanti Stupa), Nalanda, and Pawapuri, and benefit ~1.34 million people across 1,434 villages.

The upgrade will also enhance freight capacity for coal, cement, clinker, and fly ash, potentially adding 26 million tons per year. It aligns with PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan objectives to improve multimodal connectivity, logistics efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions, equivalent to planting 1 crore trees.

These initiatives aim to enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and provide better service reliability, supporting the vision of a self-reliant India and boosting local employment opportunities.
