Udaipur: Reacting to the Union Government’s Budget, Udaipur Rural District Congress President **Raghuveer Singh Meena** said that following the announcements of the **Union Budget 2026**, there is an atmosphere of disappointment across the country, especially in Rajasthan. This frustration, he said, clearly reflects the wide gap between the claims made by the Modi government and the ground reality.

He stated that unemployed youth, the middle class burdened with heavy taxes, farmers struggling with distress, shutting down startups, and a sluggish market have all been left with nothing but disappointment. By providing no relief in income tax, the government has betrayed the trust of the middle class. He added that no concrete roadmap has been presented to ensure economic stability, nor has any step been announced to address the falling value of the rupee.

Meena further alleged that by cutting allocations to agriculture, social security, healthcare services, urban development, and rural development, the government has deceived the common people of the country. He said that while citizens have been facing continuous challenges for the past several years, the Modi government is only indulging in hollow talk about the year 2047.

He also pointed out that the allocation for the **Jal Jeevan Mission** has been drastically reduced from ₹67,000 crore to ₹17,000 crore, meaning that people will now have to wait even longer for access to clean drinking water.

Additionally, he criticized the reduction in the states’ share of central taxes, stating that it has stalled the development momentum of states. He noted that Rajasthan has faced a cut of ₹1,700 crore, Madhya Pradesh ₹2,000 crore, and Chhattisgarh approximately ₹1,000 crore, which, according to him, has put the development of these states at a standstill.
