Udaipur: To communicate the key features of the historic and people-centric Union Budget 2026–27, presented in the Lok Sabha on Sunday, ministers and Members of Parliament across the state held press conferences on Monday as per the directions of the Central Government. In this series, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Madan Rathore addressed a press conference in Udaipur district and described the budget as a document that provides a strong and concrete foundation for realizing the vision of a Developed India.
Shri Rathore said that the budget clearly outlines a roadmap for the empowerment of the poor, farmers, youth, women, the middle class, and entrepreneurs. He stated that calling it merely a budget would be inadequate; rather, it is a vision document aimed at realizing the goals of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat. He added that the budget lays a strong foundation for fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of every citizen. Emphasizing the government’s approach of Reform, Perform, and Transform, he said that the strongest engine of this reform journey is women power.
Highlighting the major features of the budget, Shri Rathore said that women’s dignity, safety, and self-reliance are at the core of the proposals. The budget includes a proposal to establish one women’s hostel in every district, with an allocation of approximately ₹10,000 crore. The successful Lakhpati Didi Yojana will be expanded further to promote women entrepreneurship.
He said that the budget offers extensive opportunities for youth skill development and employment. To help young people realize their aspirations, wide-ranging initiatives in skill development and job creation have been introduced. These include the establishment of AVGC Content Creator Labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges. A permanent committee will be formed to create a seamless pathway from education to employment and entrepreneurship, with the goal of achieving a 10 percent global share in the services sector by 2047. For young entrepreneurs, an allocation of ₹10,000 crore has been made to the MSME Growth Fund.
To provide relief to the middle class, healthcare expenses are being reduced. Customs duty on 17 life-saving cancer medicines has been reduced to zero or minimal levels. To strengthen the healthcare system, 1 lakh healthcare professionals and 1.5 lakh caregivers will be added over the next five years. Additionally, TCS on overseas tour packages has been reduced from 5 percent to 2 percent, easing the financial burden on middle-class families.
Shri Rathore further said that to increase farmers’ income and modernize agriculture, a multilingual AI tool named “Bharat Vistaar” will be utilized. A capital subsidy scheme will be launched for the livestock sector, and 500 reservoirs will be linked to fisheries development. To promote semiconductor manufacturing, the government has proposed increasing investment from ₹22,500 crore to ₹40,000 crore. Moreover, the construction of 30 chemical parks across the country will strengthen India’s position as a key hub in the global supply chain.
The Rajya Sabha MP urged everyone to cooperate with the government’s efforts and move forward with a positive mindset to build a strong, self-reliant, and developed India. On this occasion, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, social worker Nahar Singh Jodha, Pramod Samar, Gajpal Singh, Pushkar Teli, and others were present.
