Udaipur: With the objective of securing a top national ranking for Udaipur in the upcoming Swachhata Survey and ensuring visible cleanliness across the city, a special cleanliness campaign titled “Mera Udaipur – Meri Pehchaan” has been launched on the initiative of District Collector Namit Mehta. The campaign will continue until March 31.
A review meeting regarding the preparations for the campaign was held on Monday at the Zila Parishad auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Namit Mehta. While briefing officials about the campaign’s framework and objectives, Collector Mehta said that Udaipur, being a major tourist destination and one of Rajasthan’s leading cities, has strong potential to secure the first position at the national level in the cleanliness survey. He emphasized that achieving this goal would require coordinated efforts from all departments.
Assigning a key role to Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, Collector Mehta said that the campaign would help identify shortcomings in the city’s cleanliness system and ensure swift corrective action. Necessary measures will be taken based on public feedback. For better monitoring of cleanliness, groups will be formed for every 8 to 10 wards, with officials from the Municipal Corporation, Udaipur Development Authority (UDA), Education, Transport, and other departments assigned responsibilities for each group.
He stated that special emphasis would be placed on visible cleanliness during the campaign. Activities will include garbage collection drives, awareness programs, wall paintings, and theme-based signage boards. Cleanliness-related works across the city will be assessed, and required improvements will be implemented immediately. Based on feedback from the officers in charge of ward groups, the Municipal Corporation will carry out the necessary enhancements.
Walls on Major Roads to Be Painted and Well-Lit
The District Collector directed that walls along major city roads be painted wherever required and that adequate lighting arrangements be ensured. Stressing the importance of participation from voluntary organizations and the general public, he said that a positive mindset toward cleanliness is essential for the campaign’s success. He instructed officials of the UDA and the Municipal Corporation to work jointly in their respective areas to enhance visible cleanliness and the overall beauty of the city.
Special Focus on Tourist Places
Collector Mehta said that special attention would be given to major tourist destinations under the campaign. Regular cleaning of public toilets and ensuring visual cleanliness at tourist spots will remain a priority. The progress of the campaign will be reviewed every 15 days. He added that the ultimate goal of the campaign is to include Udaipur among the top three cleanest cities in the country.
Municipal Commissioner Appeals for Public Cooperation
On this occasion, Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna appealed to citizens to cooperate with the municipal teams engaged in cleanliness work and to avoid littering in public places. He said public participation is crucial for the success of the campaign, and support will also be sought from various trade organizations and institutions. He emphasized that if the entire city contributes to the campaign, Udaipur will achieve significantly better results in the field of cleanliness.
The meeting was attended by ADM (Administration) Deependra Singh, ADM (City) Jitendra Ojha, UIT Secretary Hemendra Nagar, and officials from various departments.
