Udaipur : The College of Fisheries, Udaipur, a constituent college of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), organised a National Hindi Day celebration on Monday.

Speaking as the chief guest, College Dean Dr. L.N. Mahawar said Hindi is a rich language that connects people across the country and serves as a thread binding Indian culture together. He said people should take pride in speaking Hindi and encouraged students to use the language confidently in their academic and professional lives.

Dr. Mahawar highlighted the role of Hindi literature, including poetry, couplets, essays and prose, in education, employment generation and social awareness. He said Hindi articles and poetry can also be used to sensitise both the government and the public to important national issues.

Significance of September 14

Explaining the history and significance of Hindi Day, Dr. Mahawar said Hindi is the official language of the country and holds an important place in India’s linguistic and cultural identity.

He noted that on September 14, 1949, after extensive deliberations, the Constituent Assembly took the historic decision to adopt Hindi in the Devanagari script as the official language of the Union. He also recalled the contribution of Hindi scholar and litterateur Beohar Rajendra Singh, who played an important role in the movement for Hindi.

Addressing the students, Dr. M.L. Ojha, Associate Professor, emphasised the importance of using Hindi in everyday life. He urged students to respect, value and adopt Hindi as part of their daily communication.

Students Present Views on Hindi

The programme also featured active participation by students. Vidya Banjara presented patriotic lines, while Gaurav Kumawat spoke about the background and significance of Hindi Day.

Other students, including Seema, Priyanka, Yashasvi, Ravina, Vikram, Deepak, Sahil, Mohit and Harshit Teli, shared their views on the importance of Hindi and its relevance in contemporary life.

Postgraduate staff members Aarti Verma, Prabhulal, Babulal, Jitendra and Prakash were also present.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M.L. Ojha.
