Udaipur, Rotary Club Drishti and its team have successfully completed an extensive conservation campaign covering the cleaning and restoration of around 1,500 temples and ancient stepwells, marking a significant effort towards preserving Rajasthan’s cultural heritage and traditional water sources.

Recognising the club’s contribution to heritage and water conservation, Rotary Club Drishti will be presented with a special award at a grand ceremony in Jaipur on September 19.

Dr. Sweety Chhabra, founder of Rotary Club Drishti, said the campaign was made possible through the dedicated efforts of club president Vikramaditya, Alka Sharma, Kuku Likhari and social worker Parmeshwar Agrawal.

Under their leadership, extensive cleanliness and restoration drives were carried out in several areas, including Banswara, Thana region, Sector 11 of Udaipur and surrounding areas. Neglected stepwells were cleared of accumulated silt and restored to their water-harvesting potential, while temple premises were cleaned and efforts were made to restore their original character.

The organisation will be honoured in Jaipur for its outstanding contribution to water conservation and heritage preservation. Dr. Chhabra said the initiative has emerged as an example of how community participation can help protect both traditional water resources and the region’s cultural heritage.
