Udaipur, The Samvatsari Mahaparva, the most spiritually significant day of the Paryushan Mahaparva, was observed with deep devotion, reflection and spiritual fervour at Mahapragya Vihar in Udaipur.

The religious programme was organised under the spiritual guidance of Muni Sanjay Kumar Diver, Muni Prakash Kumar Diver and Muni Siddhi Pragya Ujjain, with a large number of members of the Jain Terapanth community participating in the celebrations.

The programme began with a soulful Mangalacharan presented by members of the Mahila Mandal, followed by a devotional rendition dedicated to Lord Mahavira. Through bhajans and spiritual discourse, the monks highlighted Lord Mahavira’s journey of spiritual awakening and emphasised the significance of austerity, self-discipline and spiritual practice.

Addressing the gathering on the auspicious occasion of Samvatsari, the monks described the festival as a profound opportunity for inner purification. They emphasised that purification should extend beyond the body to include one’s thoughts, words and emotions. True forgiveness and the spirit of Michhami Dukkadam, they said, can emerge only when the heart is free from negativity and filled with genuine humility.

The monks further explained that Samvatsari is a festival of friendship, forgiveness and letting go of ego. It encourages people to rise above differences of age and status, strengthen mutual affection and restore harmony in relationships. Since mistakes can occur from either side, accepting one’s own shortcomings, seeking forgiveness and forgiving others are essential steps towards inner peace.

The devotees were also encouraged to practise restraint in everyday life—avoiding what should not be done, refraining from unnecessary speech and giving up things that are not conducive to spiritual well-being. The monks called upon the community to deepen its commitment to self-study, Samayik and voluntary renunciation.

On the occasion, members of the Jain community sought forgiveness from one another through Khammat Khamna and Michhami Dukkadam, reaffirming their commitment to friendship, harmony and spiritual purification.

Meanwhile, Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria visited Mahapragya Vihar, had darshan of Muni Sanjay Kumar and attended the spiritual discourse. The Terapanth Sabha honoured Kataria by presenting him with an uparna and spiritual literature.

Terapanth Sabha President Rajkumar Kachhara said that the Kshamapana Diwas programme will be held at Mahapragya Vihar on Wednesday at 6:15 a.m. A community Parna will be organised after the programme.

The event is being organised by Saubhagchand-Lakshmi Nahar, Rakesh-Chetna Nahar and Gajendra-Jyoti Nahar.
