Udaipur: An inter-college postgraduate quiz competition on psychiatry and mental health was organised at Geetanjali Medical College, Udaipur, as part of Mental Health Awareness Month being observed from September 10 to October 10 under state government directions.

Dr Jitendra Jeengar, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, said postgraduate students from six medical colleges participated in the competition with enthusiasm. The quiz focused particularly on mood disorders and various aspects of mental health, providing participants an opportunity to demonstrate their academic knowledge.

The programme was presided over by Dr Sangeeta Gupta, Dean, Geetanjali Medical College. The quiz was conducted and anchored by Dr Bhakti Murke.

The team from Ananta Medical College, comprising Dr Faraz and Dr Utkarsh, secured first position, while Dr Shlok and Dr Aditya of Geetanjali Medical College were declared runners-up.

On the occasion, doctors and students were administered a Mental Health Awareness Pledge under the coordination of Dr Dheeraj Goya. Participants pledged to spread awareness about mental health, help reduce the social stigma associated with mental illness and encourage people in need to seek appropriate professional assistance and treatment.

Several more academic and public-awareness programmes will be organised during the ongoing Mental Health Awareness Month.
