Udaipur: Pacific Dental College and Research Centre, Bhilon Ka Bedla, has achieved a significant milestone in dental research, with its Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics receiving five international patents.

The achievement marks a major recognition for the institution, with five patents being granted to a single department at the same time. The innovations were developed under the guidance of Dr. Piyush Bolya, Head of the Department, with dedicated research contributions from PG student Dr. Prachi Tushar Khatri.

Dr. Piyush Bolya said that orthodontic treatment for correcting misaligned and irregular teeth using braces is a complex and sensitive procedure. The patented innovations comprise advanced and specialised orthodontic devices designed to make the treatment process simpler, more precise and clinically efficient.

He said the international approval of the patents demonstrates that the technologies are original, technically advanced and practically applicable in orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Prachi Tushar Khatri said the innovative devices are expected to provide direct benefits to both clinicians and patients. Their use can reduce the time patients need to keep their mouths open during certain clinical procedures and enable more accurate tooth alignment. Improved precision may also help reduce the overall duration of orthodontic treatment in suitable cases.

The department expressed its gratitude to the management of Pacific Dental College and Research Centre, stating that the institution's continued support for research and innovation has played an important role in creating an environment conducive to such achievements.

Congratulating the entire team on the milestone, Pacific Medical University Chairperson Rahul Agrawal said the achievement was a matter of pride not only for the institution but also for the country.
