As part of its cultural collaboration with SPIC MACAY, the renowned Kathak Dancer of Banaras Gharana Shree Vishal Krishna gave an enthralling performance at Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur on August 19, 2026. Dr. Sanjay Sinha, FRSA, Hon’ble President, SPSU, felicitated the artists and Mr. Niranjan Mishra, Professor of Practice and Former President, JK Cement Ltd. Pro-President Prof. Prasun Chakrabarti felicitated the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sandhya Sinha. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sinha emphasized that exposure to India’s diverse cultural traditions and classical art forms play an important role in the holistic development of students, nurturing creativity, sensitivity and a deeper appreciation of the country’s cultural heritage. Trained under the legendary Kathak exponent Sitara Devi, Vishal Krishna brought alive the distinctive nuances of the Banaras Gharana through intricate footwork, graceful movements, rhythmic patterns and expressive storytelling. Drawing upon Indian mythology, his performance infused Kathak with a profound spiritual dimension. Vishal Krishna was accompanied by Shri Anand Mishra on Tabla, Shri Jaywardhan Dadhich on Vocal, and Ustad Gulam Waris Khan on Sarangi, whose musical accompaniment added depth and richness to the performance. The magnificent recital offered students and faculty an enriching experience of India’s rich classical dance heritage, seamlessly blending artistic excellence with spirituality and Indian mythology.
