Udaipur. In a rare and inspiring feat, Geetanjali Hospital has successfully saved the lives of a 35-year-old pregnant woman from Sirohi and her extremely premature baby, proving once again that expert teamwork and timely intervention can rewrite destiny.
What began as a crisis turned into a story of courage and medical brilliance.
After sustaining a severe head injury at just 23 weeks of pregnancy, the woman received initial treatment at a local private hospital and was later shifted to Ahmedabad. Due to her critical condition, the family was advised to terminate the pregnancy. But the family held onto hope—hope for the unborn child—and turned to Geetanjali Hospital, where a new chapter began.
Upon arrival, the team of specialists assured the family that a coordinated effort would be made to protect both mother and baby. Under the care of Neurosurgeon Dr. Govind Mangal, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist Dr. Archana Sharma, and Neonatologist Dr. Sushil Gupta, a carefully structured plan was put into action. Anaesthesiologists Dr. Alka Chhabra and Dr. Pooja also played key roles, forming a truly multidisciplinary shield around the mother.
Since a delivery at 23 weeks posed extreme risks, the joint teams monitored the patient round-the-clock for nearly two months. To support the premature baby’s lung development, two doses of Antenatal Steroids (ANS) were administered—one at admission and another after 15 days.
Finally, at 30 weeks of pregnancy, with the mother’s neurological condition stabilised but still vulnerable, the team proceeded with a medically indicated LSCS delivery. The premature newborn was immediately taken under the expert care of Dr. Sushil Gupta and the Neonatology team, who ensured meticulous, specialised support.
Today, both mother and baby are healthy and thriving.
This remarkable outcome highlights the power of Geetanjali Hospital’s Multidisciplinary Approach, where seamless coordination between Neurosurgery, Obstetrics, and Neonatology played a life-saving role in an extremely complex case.
Doctors emphasised that timely treatment, vigilant monitoring, and advanced medical interventions were the pillars of this success. The case stands as a testament to Geetanjali Hospital’s advanced infrastructure, medical expertise, and unwavering patient-first philosophy.
