Udaipur: Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation Chairman and Managing Trustee Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar extended financial support to talented athletes from Udaipur-Mewar who are set to represent India at the Canoe Marathon World Cup 2026. The financial assistance provided by the foundation will support their participation in the prestigious international competition scheduled to be held from May 21 to 24 in Bazhong City, China. The event is being organized jointly by the International Canoe Federation and the China Kayaking and Canoeing Association.
Notably, the Indian team was selected through national selection trials held in Chandigarh, where nearly 300 top athletes from across the country participated. After intense competition, talented Udaipur athletes Ms. Kanishka Kumawat and Mr. Ayush Chaudhary were selected to represent India in this mega international event.
Both athletes, along with their parents, met Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar and expressed gratitude for the financial assistance of ₹5 lakh. They also thanked the foundation for previously providing 12 international-standard boats, describing the support as a “life-changing boost” for their careers. Through rigorous training at Fateh Sagar Lake using these advanced boats, both athletes have achieved international recognition and are now preparing to bring pride to Udaipur and the nation on the global stage.
On this occasion, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar congratulated and encouraged the athletes, stating that the talents of Mewar are continuously achieving excellence at national and international levels, which is a matter of pride for the entire region. He expressed confidence that both athletes would perform exceptionally and bring glory to the country.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting emerging talents in the future and announced that the foundation would soon donate eight more international-standard boats for the athletes. He described this initiative as a continuation of Mewar’s centuries-old tradition of responsibility and service started by their ancestors.
