Abandoned Camel 'Vasudha' Rescued by Animal Protection Society, Shifted to Mahaveer Camel Sanctuary for Specialized Treatment

Udaipur,  Hope has been restored for Vasudha, a severely ill and abandoned female camel found lying helpless in Kunda village for the past two days. According to local residents, her owner allegedly deserted her after she fell seriously ill, leaving the animal to suffer without care.

The situation came to light after Deepak Kumar Bariya, a local resident, alerted authorities. Social worker Kailash Vaishnav immediately stepped in and spent the last two days arranging emergency medical assistance and ensuring the camel received the care she urgently needed.

On Saturday, under the leadership of Dr. Mala Matha, Founder of the Animal Protection Society, Vasudha was safely transported to the Mahaveer Camel Sanctuary in Sirohi, where she will receive specialized treatment and long-term care. The rescue marks a significant step toward giving the distressed animal a second chance at life.

The operation was carried out with the active support of Hardik Menaria from Apna Ghar Gaushala and members of Maa Hinglaj Gau Seva Samiti, including Divya Prakash Rawal, Govardhan Singh Bhati, Sahil Salvi, Rajesh Rawal, Devendra Paliwal, and Narayan Singh Kumawat. Their coordinated efforts ensured Vasudha was rescued and transported safely.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mala Matha emphasized that the camel, being the State Animal of Rajasthan, deserves stronger protection and welfare measures. She urged the government to introduce stricter laws to prevent owners from abandoning sick or injured camels, stating that those responsible should be held legally accountable for animal neglect and cruelty.

She also appealed to the public to report any injured, sick, or abandoned animals to recognized animal welfare organizations or the local administration without delay, stressing that timely intervention can save countless animal lives.

The rescue of Vasudha stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, community participation, and collective responsibility in protecting vulnerable animals.
