Kota — On the occasion of Children’s Day, 14 November, an innovative book fair was organized at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Simlia Block, Sultanpur under the initiative of Principal Dr. Vaidehi Gautam. The event aimed to connect students with literature while nurturing their skills and interests.
The book exhibition involved students from classes 9 to 12 forming groups of five. Each group curated displays on stories, inspirational events, great personalities, scientific marvels, dictionaries, comics, magazines like Champak, patriotic songs, jokes, and riddles. In each group, one student explained the books, another monitored the stall, a third returned books to their proper place, and the fourth invited peers to read. The event brought immense joy to both students and teachers, while younger children enjoyed viewing the illustrations. Senior students used tokens to borrow and read stories for an hour before returning them. The successful execution of this first-of-its-kind event delighted the principal.
In addition to the exhibition, students prepared a variety of dishes, conducted science-related games, performed in cultural programs including singing bhajans and mono-acting, and took a pledge against tobacco use. Around 300 girls enthusiastically participated, combining entertainment with learning.
Alongside this school, six other schools organized Children’s Literature Fairs to introduce students to literature and cultural heritage. The events also included Vande Mataram quiz competitions, with 482 students participating across all schools.
