A New Beacon of National Consciousness: Inauguration of “Rashtra Mandir” at Navlakha Mahal

Udaipur:A historic and spiritually significant chapter is set to unfold at Navlakha Mahal Cultural Centre, Gulab Bagh, with the grand inauguration of the “Rashtra Mandir” on 22–23 February 2026. A press conference was organized at Mata Leelavati Auditorium in this regard, attended by Trust President Ashok Arya, Minister Bhawani Das Arya, Joint Minister Amrit Lal Tapadia, and Public Relations Secretary Vinod Kumar Rathore.

A Sacred Site of Maharshi Dayanand’s Stay

Trust President Ashok Arya informed that on 10 August 1882, at the request of Maharana Sajjan Singh of Mewar, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati arrived in Udaipur and stayed at Navlakha Mahal for nearly six and a half months. During this historic stay, he completed the editing and final composition of his renowned reformist text, Satyarth Prakash.

Thus, Navlakha Mahal became not only a historical landmark due to his residence but also a spiritual center from where a revolutionary ideological movement gained momentum.

From Dilapidation to Cultural Renaissance

In 1992, the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, allotted the building to Arya Samaj for memorial development. At that time, the structure was in a severely dilapidated condition. Under the leadership of the founding president, Swami Tatvabodh Saraswati, restoration work began with deep dedication and sacrifice.

Later, under the patronage of Dharampal Gulati (MDH), the fully air-conditioned Leelavati Vedic Culture Training Centre was established, making the site a vibrant hub of Vedic and cultural activities.

Concept of Rashtra Mandir: A Living Tribute to Revolutionaries

The vision behind Rashtra Mandir is to immortalize the lives and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters through advanced silicone sculptures—more enduring and realistic than traditional wax museums.

Eighteen freedom fighters have been depicted in dynamic, action-oriented postures, accompanied by dramatic narration, enabling visitors—especially the younger generation—to deeply understand the true value of independence.

Various cultural installations already present at the center include Panch Mahayajna rituals, Vedic message galleries, Sanskar Geetika, a cinema hall, and Aryavarta Art Gallery—each reinforcing India’s spiritual and civilizational heritage.

Book Release: “Kranti”

During the ceremony, a book titled “Kranti” (Revolution) will be released. It presents concise, student-friendly biographies of the 18 revolutionaries showcased in Rashtra Mandir. Each freedom fighter is featured with a photograph on one page and a brief introduction highlighting their contribution on the next page.

The publication aims to introduce students and young readers to the unsung heroes who sacrificed everything for the nation’s freedom.

Feature Film Launch: “Yugpurush Maharshi Dayanand”

A 1 hour 9 minute feature film titled “Yugpurush Maharshi Dayanand” will also be formally launched during the ceremony. The film presents the life, philosophy, and national contribution of Maharshi Dayanand in a compelling cinematic format. It will be screened at the theatre of Navlakha Mahal Cultural Centre.
