###Digambar Jain Community Demands Independent Probe into Alleged Medical Negligence, Assault, and Security Concerns

Udaipur: The Sakal Digambar Jain Samaj, Udaipur, has called for a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation into the events surrounding the treatment of road accident victim Kuldeep Kumar Jain on June 2, alleging medical negligence, assault on the victim's family, and procedural irregularities. The community has also sought immediate police protection for the affected family and key witnesses.

According to a detailed statement issued by the community, Kuldeep Kumar Jain sustained injuries in a road accident at around 7:00 a.m. on June 2 and was admitted to JP Orthopedic Hospital, Udaipur. Following an initial medical examination, doctors reportedly informed the family that both of his arms had suffered fractures and that routine surgery would be performed.

The community alleges that although the surgery was scheduled to begin at approximately 3:00 p.m. and was expected to last about two hours, the patient did not regain consciousness afterward and was placed on a ventilator. It further alleges that until around 6:30 p.m., family members were not provided with clear or satisfactory information regarding the patient's condition, the progress of treatment, or any complications that had arisen.

According to the statement, the hospital administration subsequently called additional doctors and informed the police. As news of the patient's critical condition spread, members of the Jain community gathered at the hospital to support the family and seek information. The community claims that the lack of clear communication created tension within the hospital premises, which later allegedly escalated into a dispute and physical assault.

The statement further alleges that after repeated requests from the family, the patient was referred to Geetanjali Hospital for advanced treatment. The community claims the patient arrived in an extremely critical and unstable condition, while the discharge documents reportedly reflected a different medical status, a matter it says warrants an independent investigation.

The community also alleges that after the required consent forms were signed at Geetanjali Hospital, Jambu Kumar Jain was called into a room under the pretext of signing additional documents. It claims that he was then allegedly assaulted by 25 to 30 doctors and other individuals, subjected to abusive behaviour, and threatened with serious consequences, including death threats.

According to the statement, another family member, Lakshya Jain, was allegedly prevented from leaving the hospital premises until other members of the community arrived. It further alleges that at around 1:00 a.m., the patient's son, Akshat Jain, was also called downstairs on the pretext of signing documents, where doctors and medical staff allegedly surrounded him. The community claims that police personnel asked him to sit in a police vehicle, assuring him of protection, but instead took him into custody.

The community stated that formal complaints regarding the incident have already been lodged at Savina Police Station, Udaipur. However, it alleges that no impartial or effective investigation has yet been conducted, no independent inquiry committee has been constituted, and no legal action has been initiated against those allegedly responsible.

Key Demands Raised by the Community

The Sakal Digambar Jain Samaj has urged the state government to:

Conduct a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation under the supervision of an independent agency or a senior police officer.

Immediately preserve CCTV footage, operation theatre records, medical documents, call records, and all other electronic evidence from both hospitals.

Conduct an impartial inquiry into the role of all concerned doctors, medical staff, and other individuals, and initiate legal action wherever warranted.

Carry out an independent investigation into the role of the police during the entire incident.

Provide immediate police protection to the victim's family and key witnesses so they can participate in the investigation and judicial process without fear or intimidation.

Ensure that all records and evidence remain secure until the investigation is completed.

Guarantee that legal proceedings are conducted impartially and without any external influence or pressure.
