Six-Foot Rat Snake Rescued from Net in Bichhadi Village

Udaipur: A six-foot-long Rat Snake was successfully rescued after becoming entangled in a net in Bichhadi village on Kurabad Road. The information was received by wildlife enthusiast and Divisional President of the Wild Animal Rescue Centre, Dr. Chaman Singh Chouhan, who immediately rushed to the spot.

Upon arrival, Dr. Chouhan found that the snake had become trapped in a strong net placed in a field behind a house. According to him, the non-venomous Rat Snake had likely ventured out during the night in search of prey and accidentally got caught in the net.

The incident came to light when local children, who had gone to play in the open field near the house, noticed the snake struggling in the net and informed residents.

Dr. Chouhan said the net was extremely strong and it took nearly an hour to carefully cut it and free the reptile without causing injury. After the rescue operation, the snake was safely released into a suitable natural habitat. The net was subsequently burned at the site to prevent any other animals from becoming trapped.

Appealing to the public, Dr. Chouhan urged residents to thoroughly clean their fields, farms, and surrounding areas before the monsoon season. He advised removing any materials or objects that could pose a threat to wildlife.

He also emphasized that if any wild animal enters a residential area, people should neither attempt to catch nor kill it. Instead, they should immediately contact the Forest Department or the Wild Animal Rescue Centre for professional assistance.
