Pacific Medical College & Hospital successfully organized a two-day national workshop on “Good Clinical Practice” under the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology on May 11 and 12. The workshop aimed to enhance awareness regarding ethics, transparency, patient safety, and quality research methodologies in clinical and biomedical research.
The inaugural session witnessed the presence of distinguished academicians including Dr. M.M. Mangal as Chief Guest, while Dr. U.S. Parihar and Dr. R.K. Paliwal attended as Guests of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, PMCH Chairman Rahul Agrawal congratulated the organizing team and emphasized that the quality of medical education and research forms the foundation of future healthcare services. He stated that such academic initiatives not only modernize researchers’ knowledge but also provide global recognition and a new direction to medical research.
The workshop featured eminent speakers from prestigious institutions across the country. Dr. Ashish Kakkar from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research delivered an insightful lecture on National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research. Explaining the fundamentals of Good Clinical Practice, he highlighted the importance of informed consent in clinical trials and stressed that no research can be considered successful without complete transparency.
Dr. Khushboo Bisht from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Nagpur spoke on safety reporting during clinical trials and underlined that patient safety remains the highest priority during research. She noted that any delay or negligence in reporting adverse effects can severely compromise the credibility of research outcomes.
Adding to the academic discussions, Dr. Arkapal Bandyopadhyay from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Kalyani elaborated on modern drug development processes and the emerging challenges in clinical trials and pharmaceutical research.
Dr. Rohitash Yadav, while delivering his lecture on Good Publication Practices, emphasized that conducting research alone is not sufficient; publishing it according to international standards is equally essential. He highlighted the importance of maintaining transparency, avoiding data plagiarism, and adhering to ethical principles in scientific publications.
Nearly 300 students, resident doctors, and faculty members enthusiastically participated in the workshop and gained valuable insights into clinical research, ethical guidelines, patient safety, and Good Clinical Practice standards.
Organizing Chairperson Dr. Vinodini Varhade remarked that such workshops motivate researchers, resident doctors, and students to conduct research in accordance with international standards while strengthening ethical values in medical research.
Organizing Secretary Dr. Rohitash Yadav stated that Good Clinical Practice forms the cornerstone of modern medical research and that the workshop provided participants with practical and updated knowledge on clinical research, patient safety, and publication ethics.
