PMCH Doctors Perform Life-Saving Complex Surgery on 12-Year-Old Child

Udaipur: The dedicated team of doctors at Pacific Medical College & Hospital (PMCH) successfully performed a highly complex and life-saving surgery on a 12-year-old boy, giving him a new lease on life. Through swift decision-making, exceptional teamwork and advanced medical expertise, the doctors managed to save the child in a situation that initially appeared almost impossible.

The surgery was led by Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon Dr. Praveen Jhanwar, with critical support from the Anaesthesia team comprising Dr. Sameer Goyal, Dr. Vijay, Dr. K.G. and Dr. Ishita. The supporting medical staff, including Subhash, Vishnu, Phoolshankar, Vivek and Leela, also played a vital role in the success of the operation.

The incident involved 12-year-old Jitendra, a resident of Madar, who sustained severe injuries after being run over by a tractor. The accident resulted in multiple life-threatening injuries, including ruptures to the lungs, diaphragm, spleen, stomach and small intestine, damage to the blood vessels of the left kidney, and severe trauma to the left leg.

The child was rushed to PMCH by his family, where Dr. Praveen Jhanwar conducted an immediate assessment and, considering the critical condition, decided to proceed with emergency surgery without delay.

PMCH Chairman Mr. Rahul Agrawal informed that the child’s condition is now stable and improving steadily, with a team of specialists continuously monitoring his recovery. He added that this successful surgery once again highlights the hospital’s excellence, advanced facilities and commitment to quality healthcare.

Dr. Praveen Jhanwar emphasized that the first “golden hour” is crucial in such trauma cases. Any delay in reaching the hospital could have made survival extremely difficult. Timely treatment helped control damage to vital organs.

During the surgery, doctors repaired the ruptured lung and diaphragm, removed the damaged spleen, sutured the intestines, controlled internal bleeding, stabilized the injuries to the left kidney, and performed emergency surgery on the injured leg.

Dr. Jhanwar further stated that due to the child’s young age, the chances of recovery are high, and with continuous monitoring and proper treatment, he is expected to recover fully.

Expressing deep gratitude, the child’s father, Arjun Singh, said emotionally that he had only heard about God before, but on that day, he saw God in human form. He shared that the entire treatment of his son is being provided free of cost at PMCH. Thanking Chairman Rahul Agrawal and the entire medical team, he said that in this difficult time, PMCH proved to be nothing less than a guardian angel, setting a true example of humanity.
