Prof. Maheshwari Conducts Workshop on Mixed Hydrotropy and Eco-Friendly Solubilization Techniques at BN College of Pharmacy

Udaipur: A special seminar and hands-on workshop on "Mixed Hydrotropy and Eco-Friendly Solubilization Techniques" was organized at Bhupal Nobles College of Pharmacy, Udaipur, featuring Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Maheshwari, Senior Scientist and Professor at SGSITS, Indore, as the keynote speaker.

During his lecture and practical workshop, Prof. Maheshwari highlighted the potential of mixed hydrotropy and mixed solvency as sustainable alternatives to conventional toxic organic solvents. He explained how carefully designed mixtures of solid, liquid, and gaseous substances can effectively replace hazardous solvents in pharmaceutical formulation and analytical applications.

Prof. Maheshwari emphasized that this innovative approach can significantly reduce the use of toxic solvents such as benzene, methanol, hexane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, phenol, and dimethylformamide (DMF), thereby minimizing environmental pollution and health hazards. He noted that appropriately liquefied solid substances can also serve as effective solvents, making pharmaceutical processes more sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly.

Speaking about his research contributions, Prof. Maheshwari said that he has been a pioneer in the fields of mixed hydrotropy and mixed solvency. He has published more than 200 research papers in national and international journals, delivered over 500 lectures worldwide, and conducted 28 specialized workshops on the subject. He expressed confidence that this innovative research would soon find a place in the Indian, British, and United States Pharmacopoeias, paving the way for safer pharmaceutical practices while protecting both human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Yuvraj Singh Sarangdevot, Dean of BN College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Pushpendra Singh Naruka, Principal, who welcomed the distinguished guest. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Kamal Singh Rathore.

Among those present were Dr. Girdharpal Singh, Dr. Hitesh Kothari, Dr. Maina Chauhan, Aparna Arora, Pragya Patidar, Annu Rathore, Drishti Chauhan, Harshita Kalal, Shivangi, Nehal Jain, Chitresh Senecha, along with Pharm.D and B.Pharm students, who actively participated in the workshop.
