Udaipur, : On the birth anniversary of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray (August 2), educationists paid tribute to the legendary scientist, educator, entrepreneur and social reformer, widely regarded as the "Father of Indian Chemistry." A special note released by Prof. Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore of BN University highlighted Ray's pioneering contributions to modern chemical research and India's scientific self-reliance.
Ray discovered the stable compound mercurous nitrite in 1896 and founded Bengal Chemical & Pharmaceutical Works Ltd. in 1901, India's first pharmaceutical company, laying the foundation for indigenous drug manufacturing.
