Banswara: The Rajasthan Teachers’ Union (Siyaram), GhatoI unit, held a formal meeting at the sub-divisional headquarters under the leadership of State Minister Nanuram Damor and District Minister Mahipal Bhuta. During the meeting, discussions were held on pressing educational issues and preparations for a large-scale collective agitation across the state.
The meeting began with floral tribute to Bharat Mata’s image by District Minister Mahipal Bhuta, followed by a collective rendition of “Vande Mataram.”
Speakers strongly stated that assigning census duties to female employees amid extreme heat and difficult geographical conditions in Rajasthan is unjust and impractical. They demanded immediate withdrawal of such decisions and urged amendments to the Shiksha Panchang, proposing summer vacations from May 16 to June 30. They also demanded restoration of institutional head authority to two days as earlier.
The organization announced that if the government fails to address their demands, a memorandum will be submitted to the Chief Minister through district collectors on April 20 as part of the next phase of the protest. Further, on May 18, a massive teachers’ rally will be organized in Ramganjmandi, the assembly constituency of the Education Minister, as a mark of protest.
Leaders also informed that talks are underway with other teacher and employee organizations in Jaipur to intensify the agitation statewide.
State Minister Nanuram Damor warned the government, stating that teachers wish to focus on teaching in government schools and should be relieved from non-academic duties such as census, animal surveys, and other administrative work. He said such assignments are adversely affecting school enrollments.
Senior leader Shripal Jain expressed concern that teachers being forced onto the streets for protests is a matter of shame for both the ruling party and the government.
Devilal Kharadi criticized the government, alleging a gap between promises and implementation, particularly regarding transfer policies. He claimed that instead of a proper policy, a “desire-based” system has been adopted, reducing teachers to a helpless position.
Sub-branch president Badanlal Damor stated that the “Let Us Teach” movement will soon reach villages, emphasizing that non-teaching duties should be assigned to unemployed youth on honorarium or allowance. He warned that if duties assigned to teachers, especially during summer vacations, are not withdrawn, the agitation will be intensified.
The meeting was attended by several leaders and members including Devilal Kharadi, Shripal Jain, Jaykumar Trivedi, Chetan Bhagora, Chhagan Masar, Bheru Dodiya, Daya Lal Yadav, Hiralal Katara, Arun Vyas, Jitendra Pargi, Hitesh Ninama, Prabhu Lal Kharadi, Mayur Padiyar, Gajendra Kumar Vyas, Ramesh Prajapat, Parvat Singh, Gangji Damor, Jivat Ram Katara, Harish Charpota, Sachin Jain, Khemchand Patiyar, Manisha Ameta, Raina Charpota, and Pragyashri, among others.
