Self-Motivation and Moral Courage Session Held at Nimbark College

Udaipur: A special motivational session on self-encouragement and strengthening moral courage was organized at Nimbark Teacher Training College, Surajpole, under the banner of Mahila Samaj Society. The program aimed to guide first-year STC students away from harmful thoughts such as suicide and to help them develop a positive outlook toward life.

The keynote speaker, social worker Maya Kumbhat, emphasized that life is a precious gift from God. She said that giving up without utilizing this valuable human life—earned through good deeds and fortune—is never justified. Difficulties are a natural part of life, she noted, and running away from them is an act of weakness.

Using the example of the Pandavas’ exile, she explained that despite 12 years of hardship in exile and an additional year in anonymity, the Pandavas never lost hope. With patience, courage, and dedication to their goal, they returned and regained their kingdom. Challenges test us, she said, but they are never meant to defeat us.

Maya Kumbhat emotionally moved the students through her inspiring poem “Jab umeed ke teer tarkash mein na hon…”. Through its lines, she conveyed that failures may shake us like an earthquake, but they cannot bring us down. Standing firm during such moments is the true test of life.

She explained that poor exam results, betrayal in relationships, or any form of mental distress are common human experiences. Thinking of ending one’s life because of them is fundamentally wrong. A mark sheet is just a piece of paper, she said, while every child is the “heart of their family.”

Through the motivating story of Rishi Raman, she reinforced the message that every problem can be resolved with patience, guidance, and positive thinking.

At the end of the session, all students collectively took a pledge:
“We will never take the step of suicide under any circumstance; we will resolve problems through communication, guidance, and sincere effort.”

College staff members, along with Vandana Sharma, Babita Jain, and Chandrakala Kothari, were present. Meenakshi Lodha extended the vote of thanks.
