Udaipur: Students of St. Anthony Senior Secondary School, Udaipur, brought pride to both their school and the state of Rajasthan with their outstanding performance at the 71st All India Dance and Drama Competition held at the historic Gaiety Theatre, Shimla.
The school’s theatrical production, “Gauri Ki Gaurav Gatha”, was awarded First Prize in the Best Children’s Drama Award category. The play, based on themes of girls’ education, social stereotypes, and positive social change, was widely appreciated by both the audience and the judges for its inspiring message and powerful presentation.
The students also achieved remarkable success in individual categories. Mehroz Hussain (Ramlal) received the award for Best Child Actor, while Bhavini Bhatnagar (Gauri) was honored as Best Child Actress. Dheer Shah (Mohan) won the Third Best Child Actor Award, Tanishq Ojha (Masterji) secured the Second Best Child Actor Award, and Vanshika Chauhan (Sita) received a Special Acting Award.
A total of 15 students participated in the drama. The cast included: Bhavini Bhatnagar (Gauri, Anandibai, Granddaughter), Mehroz Hussain (Ramlal), Vanshika Chauhan (Sita), Tanishq Ojha (Masterji), Dheer Shah (Mohan), Siddharth Sharma (Lallu/Chief), Vansh Badla (Kesari Lal), Bhumika Bansal (Chanda), Yuvraj Singh Arora (Scientist, Groom), Hiren Chobisa (Tantrik, Teacher 2), Kritarth Sharma (Disciple, Villager 4, Jhabru), Piyusha Bhatnagar (Daughter-in-law, Narrator), Purvansh Gangawat (Villager 2, Pawan), Nayan Raj Singh Panwar (Villager 3, Rakesh), and Priyansh Chaudhary, who also delivered an impactful performance. Each student brought their character to life, making the play highly engaging and memorable.
As Gauri, Bhavini Bhatnagar portrayed a determined and socially aware young girl. Mehroz Hussain, in the role of Ramlal, effectively depicted a father struggling with traditional social mindsets. Vanshika Chauhan presented Sita as a sensitive and supportive character, while Tanishq Ojha conveyed the importance of education and awareness through his role as Masterji. Dheer Shah played Mohan, a young advocate of positive social change, and Siddharth Sharma impressed audiences as the village chief, representing leadership within society. The supporting cast further strengthened the narrative through their diverse and convincing performances.
The drama was directed and staged under the guidance of the school’s theatre instructor, Virendra Singh Rawat. The presentation delivered a powerful message promoting girls’ education, scientific thinking, and social awareness.
The school management congratulated all participants, parents, and supporters on this remarkable achievement and extended its best wishes for the students’ bright and successful future.
