Udaipur:Renowned Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani believes that while external appearance may enhance one’s look, real beauty is reflected through inner values, simplicity and character. She said that genuine, pure and natural beauty is still most evident among girls from rural India.
Sangeeta Bijlani was speaking to the media during her visit to Tathastu Resort, Udaipur, where she arrived as a judge for the Mrs. Marvelous India 2025 Fashion Show. She stated that makeup is essential for stage performances and television appearances, but in real life, beauty should be judged by a person’s conduct, thoughts, behavior, way of speaking, lifestyle and education.
“Village girls possess an unmatched natural beauty. They are beautiful by birth. Makeup and clothing can enhance beauty, but they should never be the only measure of it,” she said.
Comparing rural and urban beauty standards, Bijlani explained that urban beauty often emphasizes fashion, makeup and styling, while rural beauty reflects innocence, authenticity and natural grace. She added that with changing times, rural women are now learning modern dressing styles, confidence-building and life skills, which is a very positive development.
Speaking about her own journey from modeling to becoming an established actress, Sangeeta Bijlani shared that she did not face major struggles and was fortunate to receive consistent opportunities. However, she acknowledged that many artists experience difficult phases in their careers, which can affect their mental well-being.
She emphasized the importance of patience, emotional strength and family support during challenging times and advised against taking impulsive decisions. Bijlani also highlighted the role of yoga and meditation in managing stress and maintaining mental balance, sharing that she was introduced to yoga at a young age by her parents.
The event was organized by Dr. Aditi Govitrikar, Bollywood actress, program director and founder of Mrs. Marvelous India. She informed that 26 women aged between 35 and 73 years, from regions including Kutch, Mumbai, Chennai and other parts of the country, are participating in the competition. The contestants will walk the ramp in six different rounds, showcasing confidence, elegance and individuality.
The judging panel includes Sangeeta Bijlani, Amruta Fadnavis, Dhruv Somani and Mrs. UAE World Taylor Elizabeth, while Nivritti Kumari of Mewar will grace the event as a special guest.
Dr. Govitrikar said she prefers hosting the event in Udaipur repeatedly because of the city’s strong tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God), its breathtaking beauty and the warm hospitality of its people.
“Mrs. Marvelous India is a platform for talented homemakers who often suppress their dreams due to household responsibilities. This stage allows them to rediscover themselves and present their talent with pride,” she added.
On the occasion, Taylor Elizabeth also shared her thoughts and experiences, encouraging women to believe in themselves and step forward with confidence.
