Major Step Towards Cleanliness and Environmental Protection Under the Leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur: Under the visionary leadership of Bhajanlal Sharma and his strong commitment to cleanliness, the state government is continuously taking initiatives to promote environmental protection. In this direction, the “Plastic Waste Free Campaign–2026” was organized from February 16 to February 28 under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).

The Chief Minister’s vision of turning environmental protection and cleanliness into a people’s movement gave new energy to the campaign. As a result, millions of people across the state enthusiastically participated, giving the initiative unprecedented public support. During the campaign, about 1,861,000 participants actively took part and nearly 39,000 kilograms of plastic waste was collected across the state. Through recycling and scientific disposal of the collected plastic, approximately ₹200,000 in revenue was also generated, reflecting the effectiveness of the campaign.

Schools, Women’s Groups, and Voluntary Organizations Participate Actively

The Chief Minister has consistently emphasized public participation in making the state clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly. Under his leadership, the state government has prioritized cleanliness and environmental conservation. Consequently, the campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from Gram Panchayats, schools, voluntary organizations, women’s groups, and citizens across the state.

The primary objective of the campaign was to make rural areas clean and free from plastic waste while raising awareness among people about the harmful effects of single-use plastic. The initiative evolved into a large-scale public movement, strengthening people’s sense of responsibility toward the environment.

Various Activities Organized in Gram Panchayats Across the State

As part of the campaign, several activities were organized in Gram Panchayats throughout the state. Special cleanliness drives were conducted at schools, public places, water sources, religious sites, and market areas. In addition, community meetings (chaupals), cleanliness rallies, voluntary labor drives, poster and essay competitions in schools, dialogues with shopkeepers, awareness programs for women on waste segregation, and initiatives to promote utensil banks were also organized.

Citizens Pledge to Create a Plastic Waste Free Environment

During the campaign, awareness activities were conducted in many places to discourage the use of single-use plastic, along with penalty actions where necessary. A large number of citizens also took a pledge to maintain a plastic waste free environment and adopt waste segregation practices, helping to realize the vision of a “Plastic-Free Rajasthan.”

Such public welfare campaigns initiated by the Chief Minister are strengthening awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection across the state, enabling Rajasthan to move steadily toward a cleaner and greener future.
