Bikaner House Management Society Marks 10th Anniversary

New Delhi: Ten years ago, the Rajasthan government established the Bikaner House Management Society (BHMS) to transform Bikaner House in New Delhi into a vibrant hub for Rajasthani art, culture, and heritage, and to showcase the state’s rich cultural traditions to audiences across India and abroad. Over the past decade, the society has successfully developed Bikaner House into a dynamic cultural center.

To mark its 10th anniversary, BHMS organized the grand event “Bikaner House: Ten Years Together” at the Bikaner House premises. The celebration included a retrospective presentation of the society’s programs over the last ten years. The event began with an in-house archival exhibition “Through the Years: Celebrating a Decade of Art, Culture, and Heritage”, followed by the launch of the book “Bikaner House: A Decade of Resonance”, and concluded with a joyful cultural evening featuring folk performances. The inauguration included a ceremonial lamp lighting and book release, graced by V. Srinivas, Chief Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner of the Rajasthan Government, along with other distinguished guests.

The exhibition showcased the grandeur, history, architecture, and cultural memories of Bikaner House, presenting them as a continuous dialogue between tradition and change rather than a static institutional achievement.

As part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations, a student art competition was held, alongside a photography exhibition titled “Soul of Rajasthan”, organized by Gallery Wonderwall.

Notably, Bikaner House, constructed in 1929 in the historic Princess Park as a residence for the rulers of the Bikaner State, has evolved from a royal residence into a vibrant public and cultural center over the years. Today, it stands as the “Gateway of Rajasthan”, serving as a prominent hub for promoting Rajasthani art and culture to audiences both in India and internationally.
