Kota: Renowned academician, education administrator, and prolific author Prof. Nimit Chaudhary, currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota, has carved a distinguished place in the fields of higher education and tourism literature. With an academic career spanning more than 32 years, Prof. Chaudhary has emerged as one of India's leading voices in tourism education, contributing significantly through research, teaching, and scholarly writing.
Born on April 20 in Jodhpur to Ramesh Bahadur Chaudhary and Mala Chaudhary, Prof. Chaudhary earned degrees in Engineering, an MBA in Management, and a Ph.D. He continues to serve as a Professor of Tourism in the Faculty of Management Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University), from where he was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Technical University.
Over the course of his career, he has served as a faculty member and academic administrator at several prestigious institutions, including the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (Gwalior, Noida, Nellore), Mizoram University, Jiwaji University, Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico), and Shaoxing University (China). He has also undertaken teaching and academic assignments in Sweden, Spain, and Slovenia, bringing a truly global perspective to tourism education.
A respected researcher and mentor, Prof. Chaudhary has supervised 25 doctoral scholars and authored more than 360 research papers, book chapters, and scholarly articles. His academic pursuits have taken him to nearly 40 countries, enriching his understanding of global tourism, culture, and education. Among his most notable recognitions are the AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers, the Swedish SIDA Fellowship, the Guest Scholarship, the Linnaeus-Palme Exchange Programme Grant, the PIMG Research Excellence Award, and the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholars Grant.
He was also selected for the prestigious LEAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme) at the University of Oxford, a recognition reserved for outstanding academic leaders. More recently, he received the T.V.
