Sensational Blind Murder in Kota: Two Arrested, Case Cracked Within Hours

Kota — Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma and his team of the Kota Circle Fourth recorded a major breakthrough after the sensational blind murder of a mother and daughter was solved within hours and two accused were arrested, police said.

Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam informed that, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent Niyati Sharma and Police Superintendent Yogesh Sharma, specially formed teams led by RK Puram Station House Officer Mahendra Maru, Anandpur SHO Bhupendra Singh, Mahaveer Nagar CI Ramesh Kavia, and other officers — including Head Constable Ajay, Suresh, Shyamveer, Constable Ashok, cyber team Assistant Sub-Inspector Rais Mohammad, and numerous constables — carried out the operation. Sixteen police teams were constituted and investigations were pursued simultaneously from multiple angles.

Police said the motive for the double murder was an unpaid debt. The accused, identified as Pradeep Vaishnav and Bharat Sahariya of Khanpur, Jhalawar district, have been arrested.

How the crime unfolded

According to the confession of accused Pradeep Vaishnav, he had known the deceased Jyoti Vaishnav for many years and occasionally met her when he visited Kota. A few months ago he had lent her some money. When he later demanded repayment, Jyoti refused. The dispute escalated, communications stopped, and Pradeep decided to kill her. He conspired with his associates to carry out the attack.

Police said the accused visited the victim’s house a day before the murder but were unable to execute the plan. On 7 November 2025, the suspects returned. As Jyoti was alone in the kitchen, they entered the house and strangled her with a scarf. Jyoti’s daughter Palak, who returned from school, witnessed the attack. The perpetrators then strangled Palak to silence her, took Jyoti’s mangalsutra, ear studs, and other items from a wardrobe, and fled the scene.

Police have registered cases and are conducting further investigations. Officials said the swift action and coordinated multi-team effort led to the quick arrest of the perpetrators.
