Kumawat Community Announces Decisive Struggle for Independent Identity

Udaipur: The Indian Kshatriya Kumawat community has taken to the streets demanding recognition of its historical and original identity in official government records. The community submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister through the District Collector and announced a decisive struggle for their demands.

Youth Wing State Minister Advocate Bharat Kumawat said that even before Independence, in 1946, the Kumawat Mahasabha was officially registered and has since been functioning at the national level through various affiliated units while fulfilling its social responsibilities. However, the government has not officially recognized the community’s original identity, due to which generations have been struggling for nearly eight decades.

He alleged that due to political interests, the community’s demands have been ignored. In protest, representatives from all village panchayats, youth organizations, and community members from Udaipur district submitted a five-point memorandum to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister via the District Collector on Monday and announced the launch of a decisive agitation, which will continue until their demands are fulfilled.

District Youth President Surya Prakash Ghodela said that representatives from Mukundpura, Surajpol, Dewali, Sakrampura, Mandi, Pravasi Samaj, Tanavati Chowki, and Pula panchayats, along with members of the National Mahasabha Census Department and national representatives, demonstrated unity at the Collectorate.

Through the memorandum, the community demanded:

Inclusion of their original identity in caste-based census records
Reconstitution of the “Stapatya Kala Board” (Architecture Board)
Promotion schemes for artisans of the community
Prevention and treatment facilities for silicosis disease caused by construction work
Immediate appointment of a Chairman for the Architecture Board
Pravasi Samaj President Harish Asiwal stated that during the upcoming census, all community members who currently write their gotra should instead write “Kumawat” to ensure the government has an accurate count of their population.

During the memorandum submission and strategy meeting, several leaders and representatives were present, including National Census Minister Hari Singh Ghatelwal, Panchayat Presidents Kanhaiya Lal Nahar, Purushottam Udiyal, Jitendra Tuniwal, Harish Verma, National Representative Madan Singh Baberwal, Dr. Ravi Tank (Sakrampura), Dinesh Jhalawar (Pula Panchayat), Durgesh Gothwal, Manohar Gothwal, Narayan Lal Anyawada (Tanavati Chowki representative), Municipal Councillor Dr. Neha Tank, Paramanand Nagar, Parasram Kavaya, Suresh Merawandiya, Kamlesh Kumar, Ramesh Chand, Hemraj, Prakash, Nishant Batra, Kamal Khandaria, Damodar Lal, Mangilal, Arjun, Jeevan, Bheru Lal Marothia, Lokesh Gothwal, Shiv Lal, Ambalal, Suresh Merawandiya, Lokesh Larana, Deepak Balodia, and several other community members.
