Memorandum Sent to President, Prime Minister Seeking Justice for Shaurya Chakra Awardee Martyr Major Mustafa Bohra’s Family

Udaipur,  Former Acting District President of BJP Udaipur Rural, Virendra Singh Solanki, has submitted a detailed memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Minister for Soldier Welfare Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Rajasthan Chief Secretary P. Srinivas, demanding immediate justice for the family of Martyr Major Mustafa Bohra, who was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.

The memorandum calls for the prompt implementation of all financial and non-financial entitlements due to the martyr's family under the Rajasthan Government's Kargil Package Scheme and the Shaurya Chakra Awardee Scheme.

A Hero Who Made the Supreme Sacrifice

Solanki noted that Major Mustafa Bohra laid down his life in the line of duty on October 21, 2022, while defending the nation. In recognition of his exceptional courage, devotion to duty, and supreme sacrifice, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Shaurya Chakra posthumously upon his family during the Defence Investiture Ceremony held in New Delhi on July 5, 2024.

He said the honour belongs not only to the martyr's family but also to the people of Mewar, Rajasthan, and the nation.

Delay in Benefits Raises Serious Concerns

Expressing concern, Solanki said it is unfortunate that despite receiving one of India's highest gallantry awards, the martyr's family continues to struggle for benefits that are already guaranteed under government policies.

He alleged that several matters relating to the family remain pending with the Rajasthan Housing Board, Udaipur Development Authority (UDA), and other administrative departments since 2023, forcing the family to make repeated visits to government offices.

"If the family of a Shaurya Chakra awardee martyr has to fight for years to receive legally sanctioned benefits, it raises serious questions about administrative sensitivity and accountability," Solanki said.

Demand for Nodal Officer and Time-Bound Resolution

Solanki has urged Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to appoint a special nodal officer to review all pending cases related to the martyr's family and ensure that every legitimate demand is resolved within 15 days.

He also sought a high-level review of all benefits admissible under the state's Soldier Welfare Policy, with directions for their immediate implementation.

Seven Major Demands in the Memorandum

The memorandum places the following key demands before the Central and Rajasthan Governments:

Immediate verification and release of all financial and other benefits due to the family under the Kargil Package Scheme.

Immediate allotment of an MIG house by the Rajasthan Housing Board, a proposal pending since 2023.

Allotment of a 220-square-metre residential plot at the concessional reserved rate under the Shaurya Chakra Awardee Scheme.

Renaming Rani Road, Udaipur, as "Shaheed Major Mustafa Bohra Marg" in honour of the fallen officer.

Renaming the Government Senior Secondary School, Kheroda, after Major Mustafa Bohra.

Construction of a Shaheed Major Mustafa Bohra Memorial at Kheroda to inspire future generations with the ideals of patriotism and military service.

Official observance of October 21, the martyr's sacrifice day, as "Shaheed Major Mustafa Bohra Shaurya Chakra Shraddhanjali Diwas" at the district level every year, featuring government-led tribute ceremonies, blood donation camps, motivational lectures, and patriotic programmes for students.

Respect for Martyrs Must Go Beyond Ceremonies

Solanki emphasized that honouring martyrs should not remain confined to ceremonial tributes or commemorative events.

"The true tribute to our brave soldiers lies in ensuring that every promise made by the government is fulfilled in a transparent and time-bound manner for their families," he said.

Appealing for immediate personal intervention by the Chief Minister and the Soldier Welfare Minister, Solanki expressed confidence that the Central and Rajasthan Governments would act swiftly to uphold the dignity of the martyr's family and ensure that all pending entitlements are granted without further delay.

He concluded by stating that Rajasthan is the land of warriors, and if even the family of a Shaurya Chakra awardee has to struggle for its rightful benefits, it becomes a matter of serious concern for society. He expressed hope that the leadership at both the Centre and the State would take a sensitive and decisive approach to safeguard the honour and rights of Martyr Major Mustafa Bohra's family.
