Udaipur: A public dialogue programme under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) was organised at the Vallabhnagar Panchayat Samiti in Udaipur district. Vallabhnagar MLA Uday Lal Dangi graced the occasion, during which the public was briefed in detail about the key features and objectives of the scheme.
Officials explained that the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) is a new and modern rural development law set to replace MGNREGA. Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the scheme focuses on promoting sustainable development and enhancing livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
Key Features of the Scheme:
Each eligible rural household will now be guaranteed 125 days of paid employment per year, increased from the earlier 100 days.
Creation of durable assets such as water conservation works, rural roads, sanitation facilities, and livelihood-related infrastructure.
The scheme is centrally sponsored (CSS) with a funding pattern of 60:40 between the Centre and states for general states, and 90:10 for North-Eastern and Himalayan states.
A provision of 60 days of ‘work suspension’ during peak agricultural seasons (sowing and harvesting) to ensure adequate labour availability for farming activities.
Emphasis on technology-driven transparency, including GIS-based monitoring, biometric verification, and Aadhaar-enabled payment systems.
Weekly wage payments to workers.
Integration of rural works with PM Gati Shakti to ensure better planning, coordination, and transparency.
If employment is not provided within 15 days of application, the state government will pay an unemployment allowance under the scheme.
The programme witnessed the presence of officials from various line departments, assistant engineers, junior engineers, junior technical assistants, gram development officers, junior assistants, mates, along with a large number of public representatives and villagers.
