Training of Regular Assistants Begins for Census 2027

Udaipur: In the first phase of preparations for Census 2027, a three-day training program for regular assistants from all 23 census charges of Udaipur district commenced on Monday at the District Council Auditorium, Udaipur.
District Census Officer and Additional District Collector (Administration), Shri Dipendra Singh Rathore, explained that the role and responsibilities of regular assistants are crucial for the successful conduct of the census. Census 2027 will be India’s 16th national census and the first fully digital census, allowing citizens to participate using the self-enumeration option.
On the first day of training, census charge officers were instructed on appointing field trainers, enumerators, and supervisors via the CMMS portal, and on determining housing enumeration blocks through the HLBC portal.
Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases:
•    Phase I – House Listing: From 1 May 2026 to 15 May 2026, self-enumeration will be carried out by citizens, followed by enumerators and supervisors from 16 May 2026 to 14 June 2026.
•    Phase II – Population Enumeration: Scheduled for February 2027.
In Udaipur district, the census will cover 17 tehsils, 1 municipal corporation, 5 municipalities, 1882 villages, and 190 wards. Census cells have been established at both district and charge levels. The plan includes creating 4,300 enumerator blocks (3,350 rural and 950 urban) and 716 supervisor panels (558 rural and 158 urban).
The training was attended by 17 assistants from rural charges (tehsils), 6 from urban charges (municipal corporation and municipalities), and 4 from the district level. Also present was Joint Director, Economic & Statistics Department, Puneet Sharma, serving as Deputy District Census Officer. State-level trainers Mahendra Kumar Meena and Dwipendra Dhabhai from the Directorate of Census Operations, Rajasthan, Jaipur, conducted the training.
