Udaipur: Under the Panch Gaurav Yojana and the One District One Sport initiative, swimming has been selected to promote the sport and identify talented athletes across the district. Under the guidance of District Collector Namit Mehta and **Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) Chairman Rahul Jain, block-level swimming talent search competitions are being organized, generating great enthusiasm among young swimmers.
During the second phase of the competition, block-level events for the tribal region blocks of Jhadol, Kotra, and Phalasiya were held on Tuesday at Jhadol.
District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal informed that the competitions were organized on March 10 at the swimming pool of Dungar Bagh Resort.
Around 45 swimmers participated in the Kotra block event.
Boys Category: Arjunlal, Ajay, Khaliyaram, and Kishan secured first place; Arjunlal, Kamlesh Kumar, and Sameer Kumar finished second; while Rahul Kumar, Savjiram, and Siddharth secured third place.
Girls Category: Munnikumari, Jiya Kumari, and Sanjana Kumari emerged as winners.
Approximately 60 swimmers took part in the Phalasiya block event.
Boys Category: Narpat Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Narendra Kharadi secured first place; Siddharth Kharadi, Jaipal, and Vijay finished second; while Mohanlal, Raghuvar Singh, and Siddharth secured third place.
Girls Category: Priyanka, Surya, and Kiran were the winners.
About 76 swimmers participated in the Jhadol block event.
Boys Category: Jitendra Kumar, Emesh, and Rajkumar secured first place; Sanjay Kumar, Madanlal, and Pankaj finished second; while Ramesh Kumar, Prakash Kumar, and Ramesh secured third place.
Girls Category: Laxmi Kumari, Ramila, and Manisha secured first place; Tina, Kavli, and Kailashi finished second; while Sanu Kumari, Kailashi, and Sanu secured third place.
The chief guest of the event was Additional Block Education Officer Manish Joshi of Jhadol. Special guests included Vijay Sachiyar, Radheshyam Suthar, Mavaram, Ramesh Chandra Daragi, Bhurilal Kharadi, Natwar Singh Jhala, Jagdish Joshi, Ajay Meena, Ranchhod Lal, Kanhaiyalal Gamar, Shyamlal Vadera, and Pahad Singh. The competitions concluded in the presence of physical education teachers from all three blocks.
Dr. Paliwal further informed that on March 11, competitions will be held in Gogunda for the blocks of Gogunda, Sayra, Devla, and Badgaon. In the fourth phase, block-level talent search competitions will be organized on March 12 for Mavli, Vallabhnagar, Bhinder, and Kurabad.
Selected participants will attend a 15-day residential training camp from March 13 to 28 at Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, where they will receive specialized training from experienced coaches.
