Play “Akhand Samarpan Pannadhay” Staged at Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi on International Women’s Day

Udaipur: On the occasion of International Women's Day, Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi, Udaipur celebrated the day with great enthusiasm. The program began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati, followed by a Saraswati Vandana presented by Sharda Bhatt.

Secretary of the academy Dr. Basant Singh Solanki informed that the chief guest of the program was Bhavna Paliwal, popularly known as the “Pad Woman” and a social worker. She shared her views on women’s sanitation and hygiene. The program was chaired by Divisional Commissioner and Administrator of the academy Pragya Kevalramani, who emphasized the importance of holistic development for women. She stated that such events help society move from traditional mindsets toward a more progressive outlook.

Special guest Shivani Johri Bhatnagar, a judge from Pratapgarh district, highlighted the historical and present-day status of women and encouraged them to move forward with their natural strengths. Anjana Sukhwal, Additional Superintendent of Police from Kherwara, stated that women’s safety is of utmost importance and emphasized the need for women to empower themselves.

During the program, Anaya Bokadia presented a beautiful expressive dance performance. The highlight of the event was the staging of the historical play Akhand Samarpan Pannadhay, based on the legendary sacrifice of Panna Dhai. A special feature of the play was that all roles were performed by women, many of whom acted on stage for the first time in their lives. The play was directed by Dr. Poonam Bhoo Poonam.

The play featured impressive performances by Dr. Amrita Bokadia, Dr. Simmi Singh, Dr. Priyanka Bhatt, Deepa Pant Sheetal, and Meenakshi Panwar Mishant, who portrayed various historical characters and received great appreciation from the audience.

On this occasion, a micro-magazine by Dr. Chandra Prakash Chittoda was also released. The welcome address was delivered by Shreya Arora. The program was anchored by Dr. Sarita Jain and Deepika Swarnkar, while the vote of thanks was presented by Rajni Yadav.

The event was attended by many writers, intellectuals, and distinguished citizens of the city, including Dr. Shrikrishna Jugnu, Dr. Chandrakant Bansal, Dr. Sarwat Khan, Asha Pandey Ojha, Kiran Bala Kiran, Shakuntala Soni, Ratan Mohata, Shakuntala Swarupariya, Sunita Nimish, Ashok Jain Manthan, Shyam Mathpal, Sunil Tank, Rajesh Mehta, Amit Vyas, Rakesh Jhanwar, Prakash Nebhnani, Jaiprakash Bhatnagar, Prof. Harsh Bhoo, Neelabh Sharma, Yayati, Lakshit Sharma, Bhupendra, Anjali, Mohit Joshi, Devyani Joshi, and Sheetal Sharma, along with many other distinguished citizens and media representatives from Udaipur.
