Three-Day Mewar Festival to be Organized from March 21 by Tourism Department

Udaipur: A review meeting regarding the preparations for the upcoming three-day Mewar Festival, scheduled from March 21 to March 23, was held on Wednesday at the Mini Conference Hall of the District Collectorate in Udaipur. The meeting was organized under the direction of District Collector Namit Mehta and chaired by Additional District Magistrate (City) Jitendra Ojha.

During the meeting, ADM Ojha instructed representatives of various departments, hotels, and institutions associated with the event to work in close coordination to ensure the successful organization of the internationally renowned festival, which is held annually.

He directed officials to ensure arrangements such as cleanliness, drinking water facilities, decorative lighting, divers for safety, and fire brigade services at the main festival locations including Jagdish Chowk and Gangaur Ghat.

The ADM also instructed that lighting and fountains be operational at key city intersections including Udiapole Circle, Surajpole Circle, Delhi Gate, Chetak Circle, and Sukhadia Circle during the festival days.

The police department has been asked to deploy adequate personnel, including women constables, ensure law and order, police band arrangements, and proper traffic management. The electricity department, Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, has been directed to maintain uninterrupted power supply in the festival areas.

The Public Works Department has been instructed to provide barricading free of cost, while the West Zone Cultural Centre will arrange decorative lighting and seating arrangements for special guests and foreign tourists at Bagore Ki Haveli.

Officials also reviewed preparations for the fair organized at Gogunda as part of the festival, directing the local Sarpanch and VDO to ensure all necessary arrangements.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Mandowra, Traffic DSP Ashok Anjana, Tourism Deputy Director Shikha Saxena, along with officials from various departments and representatives from local hotels.

Major Attractions: Gangaur Procession, Fireworks, and Cultural Evenings

Deputy Director Tourism Shikha Saxena informed that during the Mewar Festival, Gangaur processions from different communities will reach Gangaur Ghat between 4 pm and 6 pm on March 21.

From 6 pm to 7 pm, the royal Gangaur procession from Bansi Ghat to Gangaur Ghat will be a major attraction.

The evening will feature a cultural programme and fireworks display. On March 22 at 7 pm, another cultural evening will be held at Gangaur Ghat along with a Rajasthani traditional costume competition for foreign couples.

From March 21 to March 23, Gogunda will also host a rural haat market, cultural programmes, and fireworks displays.

The festival will feature special decorations, fireworks, cultural performances, the royal Gangaur procession, foreign couple competitions, and elaborate lighting arrangements, making it a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists.
