Panch Gaurav – Swimming Talent Search Competitions

Udaipur: Under the Panch Gaurav Scheme and the One District One Sport initiative, block-level swimming talent search competitions are being conducted to encourage young swimmers and identify emerging talent from the district. The events are being held under the guidance of District Collector Namit Mehta and UDA Chairman Rahul Jain.

The third phase of the competition was conducted on Wednesday at Rajtilak Resort, Jaswantgarh, featuring block-level contests from Gogunda, Sayra, and Devla.

Highlights and Participation

District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal said that the competitions are aimed at identifying talented athletes from both rural and urban areas and providing them opportunities to progress to district and state-level competitions.

In the Gogunda Block competition, held under the supervision of Block In-Charge Mahavir Singh Jhala, Madan Suthar, Vimla Rathore, and Sangeeta Nahar, a total of 62 swimmers participated.

• Boys Category Winners: Reshamlal, Lalit, Bhanwarlal, Roshan Singh, Rakesh Ved, Harshdev (1st), Anil Kahar, Harvin, Suresh, Maulik (2nd)

• Girls Category Winners: Poonam Kahar, Kajal Suthar, Jahnavi Kumari (1st), Happy Garg, Geeta Kumari, Nishakumari Bhil (2nd)

In the Sayra Block, supervised by Block In-Charge Bhuri Lal Kumar and Muktiyar Ahmed, 38 swimmers participated.

• Boys Category Winners: Vishnu Gharasiya, Vimal Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Dileep Suthar, Kailash (1st), Praveen, Sajjan Singh, Mayur Ved, Chetan, Rakesh (2nd)

In the Devla Block, under the supervision of Block In-Charge Omprakash Ved and Vijay Paliwal, 36 swimmers competed.

• Boys Category Winners: Parshuram, Roshanlal, Pushkar (1st), Tejaram, Praveen Kumar, Shailendra Ved (2nd)

• Girls Category Winners: Gudiya Kumari, Kanchi Kumari (1st)

The winners were awarded prizes in the presence of Chief Block Education Officer, Gogunda – Prerna Nosalia, RI Jaswantgarh – Prakash Menaria, Radheshyam Suthar, and physical education teachers from all three blocks.

Upcoming Competitions and Training

Dr. Paliwal added that on Thursday, March 12, block-level competitions will be held in Vallabhnagar, Mavli, Kurabad, and Bhinder at Hotel Krishnaraj, Bhatewar, along with competitions in Udaipur City and Badgaon at Maharana Pratap Khelgaon, Chitrakut Nagar, Udaipur.

Selected participants from these competitions will attend a 15-day residential training camp from March 13 to March 28 at Maharana Pratap Khelgaon, Udaipur, where they will receive advanced coaching from experienced trainers.

This initiative aims to nurture young swimming talent and provide a pathway for them to excel at higher-level competitions.
