Mines Department Moves Toward New Revenue Collection Record

Udaipur: The State Mines Department is progressing toward a target of collecting over ₹10,000 crore in revenue during the current financial year. Principal Secretary (Mines), T. Ravikant, has directed field officers to accelerate recovery efforts across all potential sources in the final fortnight of the month.

The department has already surpassed last year’s revenue figure of approximately ₹9,200 crore and has collected ₹9,426 crore so far, registering an 11% growth rate. This marks an increase of nearly ₹1,000 crore compared to the same period last year. He stated that a comprehensive revenue recovery strategy has been prepared and shared with field officers.

T. Ravikant was addressing a meeting of senior officials held on Thursday at Khanij Bhawan in Udaipur. He emphasized that the government is focused on setting a new benchmark in revenue collection.

As per the departmental strategy, strict instructions have been issued for recovery from various sources, including:

  • Upfront payments from auctioned major and minor mineral blocks

  • Premium amounts from auctioned minor mineral blocks

  • Outstanding royalty dues

  • One-time settlement schemes

  • Penalties from illegal mining activities

  • Other pending dues

During the meeting, he also reviewed the progress of automation of weighbridges and the vehicle tracking system, and instructed officials to ensure effective use of departmental digital modules.

Director (Mines) Mahavir Prasad Meena stated that the department is focusing on maximizing recovery from all potential revenue sources and expressed confidence that the ₹10,000 crore target will be achieved soon.

Additional Director (Headquarters) Mahesh Mathur informed that revenue collection is being regularly monitored at the headquarters level, with coordinated efforts involving field officers to enhance recovery. He added that a new record in mining sector revenue collection is expected this year.

The meeting was attended by Finance Officer Suresh Chandra, Additional Director Mahesh Mathur, Additional Director (IT) Sheetal Agrawal, Superintending Mining Engineer S.P. Sharma, Mining Engineer Asif Ansari, and other senior officials of the department.
