Internationally Acclaimed Mewar Festival Begins with Grand Celebrations

Udaipur: The world-renowned Mewar Festival commenced with great pomp and show on Saturday, organized jointly by the District Administration and the Department of Tourism. The festival offered a captivating glimpse of Mewar’s rich culture amidst the scenic beauty of Udaipur’s lakes.

In the old city, a vibrant Gangaur procession moved from Ghantaghar to Gangaur Ghat, organized by various communities. Men and women dressed in traditional attire participated in the procession. Accompanied by folk songs and dances, the event created a picturesque and enchanting atmosphere. Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain, District Police Superintendent Dr. Amrita Duhan, and other dignitaries attended as guests. Joint Director of Tourism Sunita Saroach and Deputy Director Shikha Saxena welcomed the guests.

Royal Gangaur Captivates Everyone

The royal Gangaur procession, moving from Banshi Ghat to Gangaur Ghat with regal grandeur, became the centerpiece of attraction. Set against the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola, the beautifully decorated procession, accompanied by melodious tunes, mesmerized the audience.

Decorated Gangaur and Isar Ji Impress All

The festival also highlighted the unique idols of Gangaur and Isar Ji, revered as Shiva and Parvati, which attracted widespread admiration. Adorned with elaborate headgear and ornaments, the idols presented a striking and colorful display. Among the communities, Rajmali Society’s Gangaur secured first place, Maru Kumawat Society’s Gangaur came second, and Kar Bhoi Society’s Gangaur received third place.

Cultural Performances Enthrall Audience

In the evening, a spectacular confluence of folk culture was witnessed at Gangaur Ghat. Local artists showcased the region’s cultural heritage through vibrant performances, leaving the audience enchanted. The combination of Udaipur’s lakeside setting and the lively cultural displays created a truly mesmerizing experience. The celebrations concluded with a dazzling fireworks display.
