Udaipur: Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government is committed to working in the interest of farmers. In this direction, a special statewide campaign titled “Apno Khet–Apni Khad” will be launched to restore soil fertility and reduce farmers’ dependence on chemical fertilizers. The campaign will run from April 6 to April 30, 2026, across the state.

Detailed guidelines have been issued by the Agriculture Commissionerate, Jaipur, directing all district officials to ensure effective implementation. In Udaipur district, the Agriculture Department has completed all necessary preparations under the supervision of the district administration.

Key Objectives of the Campaign

In the era of climate change, maintaining soil health has become a major challenge. Through this campaign, the government aims to encourage farmers to adopt organic alternatives such as compost, vermicompost, and bio-fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers.

The campaign will also promote the use of green manure crops like Dhaincha, Guar, and Chawla to improve soil quality. Additionally, farmers will be made aware of proper crop residue management instead of burning stubble. Natural farming practices such as Beejamrit, Jeevamrit, Ghanjeevamrit, and Panchgavya will also be promoted.

Awareness Activities at Village Level

To ensure grassroots-level impact, farmer meetings, night chaupals, and morning awareness rallies will be organized at the Gram Panchayat level. Local school students and institutions will also be involved.

Agricultural scientists, along with “Namo Drone Didis,” agriculture assistants, and progressive farmers, will share their experiences. The Agriculture Department has also advised farmers to use SSP and NPK fertilizers as balanced alternatives to DAP and urea, which provide essential as well as secondary nutrients like sulfur and calcium.

Distribution of 1 Lakh Seed Kits

To promote green manure, the government has planned to distribute around 100,000 seed kits of Dhaincha and Guar to small and marginal farmers, including those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, covering 0.2 hectares per farmer.

Capable farmers will also be encouraged to grow green manure on their own, and their success stories will be shared through social media and WhatsApp groups.

Linkage with Upcoming “Gram” Event

Farmers who perform well during the campaign will be given an opportunity to participate in the proposed “Gram” event scheduled in May. Registration for this has already begun.
