Impact of “Operation Lakshman Rekha”: Information Box Installed at Om Chintamani Coaching, Strict Action Against Drug Traffickers Within 500-Metre Radius

Udaipur — With the aim of protecting the younger generation from the growing threat of drug abuse and ensuring a safe and healthy environment around educational institutions, a grand drug de-addiction awareness programme was organised at Om Chintamani Coaching Classes in Hiranmagri.

The event was held under the Drug De-addiction Fortnight being observed across the state by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, with special focus on the Government of India’s “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force’s “Operation Lakshman Rekha.”

The programme began with the institute’s director, Navneet Nagar, welcoming guests and students. He stated that awareness against drug abuse is not just a campaign but a commitment to protecting society and the future of youth. He urged students to adopt positive thinking and discipline in life.

Chief speaker and President of Arogya Seva Sansthan, Narpat Singh Chauhan, addressed the youth and said that drug abuse has become one of the biggest challenges for society today. He warned that drug trafficking gangs often operate around coaching institutes and educational areas, attempting to trap students. He appealed to students to remain vigilant, avoid bad company, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

A key highlight of the programme was the installation of a special information box (confidential complaint box) by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) within the institute premises. Through this box, students will be able to anonymously report any drug use, supply, or suspicious activities in the coaching area. Officials assured that the identity of informants will be kept completely confidential and immediate action will be taken on the information received.

During the event, detailed information was also shared about the provisions under “Operation Lakshman Rekha.” Officials clarified that a 500-metre radius around all educational and coaching institutions has been declared a drug-free zone. Any sale, trafficking, or illegal activity involving narcotics within this area will attract strict legal action under the NDPS Act.

Sub-Inspector Devendra Singh Chauhan from Hiranmagri Police Station interacted with students, encouraging them to respect the law and become responsible citizens. He also administered a pledge to all students, teachers, and staff members to stay away from drugs and work collectively towards making society drug-free.

At the end of the programme, Navneet Nagar thanked all guests, police officials, and social workers. Guests were honoured with shawls and mementos. The event helped raise awareness among students about the harmful effects of drugs and sent a strong message towards making coaching zones safe and drug-free.

The programme not only served as a platform for awareness but also inspired youth to become vigilant guardians against drug abuse, marking an important step towards positive social change.
