A 15-day Retail Fertilizer Dealer Training Programme, organized by the Directorate of Extension Education, Udaipur, was conducted from 15 December to 29 December, 2025. The training programme concluded on 29 December, 2025, with Dr. I.J. Mathur, former Director, Directorate of Extension Education, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the trainees, Dr. Mathur urged them to conduct their business with honesty and dedication, and to provide correct and timely advice to farmers, thereby indirectly acting as agents of change for the farming community. He highlighted various aspects of customized fertilizers, balanced fertilizer use and integrated nutrient management, and also discussed the importance of nano-fertilizers and water-soluble fertilizers. Dr. Mathur further elaborated on the six key dimensions of agriculture—soil, water, seed, tools, environment and farmer—emphasizing that the farmer is supreme and fertilizer dealers should prepare themselves keeping farmers’ interests at the forefront.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. R.L. Soni, Director, Extension Education, Udaipur, shared insights on running a successful business. He stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relations and courteous behavior with farmers, and advised dealers to make all products available to farmers at fair and reasonable prices.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. M.C. Goyal, Director of Residential Instruction, Agriculture University, Kota, stated that after completing this training, fertilizer dealers should establish direct contact with farmers and motivate them to adopt the latest and modern agricultural technologies. He emphasized that dealers can play a significant role in increasing farmers’ incomes. Dr. Goyal also elaborated on the concept of the ‘Six J’s’—Jal (water), Jungle (forests), Zameen (land), Jan (people), Jeevan (life) and Jagrukta (awareness).
The Training Coordinator and Faculty Member, Dr. Yogesh Kanojia, highlighted the importance of balanced fertilizer use and soil testing. He provided brief information on soil health cards, nutrient management, benefits of integrated nutrient management, organic and natural farming practices, and their advantages.
During the valedictory ceremony, certificates were distributed to all participants who successfully completed the retail fertilizer dealer training. A total of 45 trainees from various districts of the state participated in the programme. They were imparted both theoretical and practical knowledge by agricultural scientists of the university and officials of the state government.
