Udaipur. Under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP), a one-day mushroom training programme was organized in Gram Panchayat Dhavadiya (Mahuwada), Panchayat Samiti Jaisamand, Salumber district, by the All India Coordinated Research Project on Mushrooms operating under Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, which functions under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
Project In-charge Professor Narayan Lal Meena informed the farmers about the nutritional and medicinal properties of mushrooms, including their role in reducing blood pressure, diabetes, and heart-related risks, as well as their anti-cancer, anti-Alzheimer’s, and antioxidant benefits. He also provided detailed information on the scientific cultivation of oyster, button, and milky mushrooms. Considering the suitable climate of the Kevde ki Nal area, he encouraged farmers to adopt mushroom cultivation on a larger scale.
Dr. Meena emphasized that farmers belonging to the Scheduled Caste community in Kevde ki Nal are also keeping pace with modern agricultural practices through mushroom cultivation. Practical training related to mushroom farming was provided by Shri Avinash Kumar Nagda and Shri Kishan Singh Rajput.
The programme was attended by Hira Lal Meena, Inspector, Cooperative Department, Udaipur; Bhavana Patel, Agriculture Supervisor; Balchand Meena, Administrator; Mangi Lal Bunkar; Nirmala Bunkar, social worker; and other officials. A total of 30 men and women farmers from nearby villages of Panchayat Samiti Jaisamand participated in the training.
At the end of the programme, mushroom cultivation-related materials were distributed to the trainees.
