National Seminar on Family Dynamics and Women Empowerment Held at College of Community and Applied Sciences

Udaipur – The Department of Resource Management at the College of Community and Applied Sciences, a constituent of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, organized a one-day national seminar on the theme **“Udaan: Family Dynamics and Women Empowerment.”**

The program’s Chief Guest, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pratap Singh, in his inaugural address, stated that the family is the most powerful unit of society, and when equality, communication, and respect flourish within families, women’s empowerment naturally manifests. Prof. Singh highlighted the seminar’s relevance not only for women but also at the family, societal, national, and global levels. Through an experience-based, insightful address, he emphasized the multifaceted dimensions of women—physical, mental, community, legal, religious, and ethical—shedding light on their status and direction over time.

The Dean of the college, Prof. Dhriti Solanki, in her welcome address, remarked, *“The concept of women empowerment cannot be fully realized without understanding the ongoing changes in family and societal structures. Seminars like ‘Udaan’ are a powerful means to link academic discourse with social responsibility.”*

The Organizing Secretary, Dr. Hemu Rathore, shared that the seminar witnessed participation from 142 delegates across 11 states. During the event, Prof. Pratap Singh also unveiled an album on **“Empowered Women and Their Contributions”** and a pamphlet on **“Key Laws Related to Women Welfare.”**

The seminar’s panel discussion featured Prof. Meena Gaur, who discussed women’s role from a historical perspective; Dr. Kala Munet, who highlighted women’s rights and legal frameworks; Dr. Bhavana Pokharna, who shared insights on the political dimensions of women empowerment; and Dr. Gayatri Tiwari, who spoke on the psychological aspects of family structure. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Gayatri Tiwari.

In the first technical session, eight Ph.D. scholars presented on the evolving nature of Indian womanhood, stress management, and strengthening family relationships. In the second technical session, nine Ph.D. scholars discussed contemporary family structures, institutions, gender influences, and legal rights of women in India. The technical sessions were coordinated by Ms. Bhavana.

The successful organization of the seminar was supported by Organizing Secretaries Dr. Suman Singh, Dr. Rekha Vyas, and Dr. Hemu Rathore, Coordinators Dr. Jaymala Dave and Dr. Anjali Juyal, along with the Ph.D. scholars.
