MPUAT Organizes Farmer Training on Value Addition in Spice Crops

Udaipur: A one-day farmer training programme on value addition in spice crops was organized on Friday, March 6, 2026, by the Department of Horticulture, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. The programme was sponsored by the Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Calicut, Kerala.

At the beginning of the programme, Dr. Abhay Dashora, Assistant Professor and Project In-charge, Udaipur, highlighted the objectives of the project and discussed improved varieties of major seed spice crops grown in the region.

Dr. Kapil Dev Ameta, Head of the Department of Horticulture, motivated farmers to cultivate spice crops by explaining their economic importance and potential for higher income. He also provided detailed information on advanced production technology of chilli.

Dr. Deepak Rajpurohit, Professor, Post-Harvest Technology (PHT), delivered a session on processing and value addition in spice crops, while Co-Project In-charge Dr. B.G. Chhipa explained various aspects of improved production practices in spice cultivation.

Mr. Shankar Lal Nakwal shared detailed insights on organic farming practices in spice crops. In the concluding session, Co-Project In-charge Dr. Urmila discussed integrated nutrient management in crops and presented the vote of thanks.

A total of 40 progressive farmers participated in the training programme. The participants were provided with the Agricultural Calendar published by the university and chilli seedlings developed in the nursery.
