Udaipur: Under a special awareness campaign on the balanced use of fertilizers, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized dedicated programs to educate farmers about scientific and technical farming practices.
Dr. Ratan Lal Solanki, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) and Head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, addressed young farmers and expressed concern over declining soil health and fertility. He emphasized adopting balanced fertilizer use, noting that excessive and unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers such as urea and DAP has reduced soil productivity. The primary reason for this decline is the imbalance of nutrients in the soil. This not only affects long-term soil fertility but also reduces fertilizer efficiency, deteriorates soil health, increases production costs, and negatively impacts crop yields.
Dr. Solanki advised farmers to conduct soil testing and adopt fertilizer application based on Soil Health Card recommendations. He stressed balanced nutrient management according to crop requirements and encouraged the increased use of organic manure, compost, and vermicompost. He also urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices.
Dr. Harish Tank, Assistant Deputy Project Director (ATMA), Chittorgarh, informed farmers about various government schemes and subsidies provided by the agriculture department. He also highlighted the importance of balanced fertilizer use for improving the productivity of crops and fruit-bearing trees.
Mr. Mukesh Ameta, Regional Manager at IFFCO, educated farmers about biofertilizers such as Azotobacter, Rhizobium, and PSB culture, and demonstrated proper seed treatment methods. He also emphasized the use of nano urea and nano DAP, and provided detailed guidance on the correct dosage, appropriate timing, and scientific methods of fertilizer application.
During the program, Ms. Deepa Indoriya, Program Assistant, advised farmers to use fertilizers based strictly on soil testing and explained the process of preparing organic manure and vermicompost. She also demonstrated scientific methods for soil sample collection and discussed soil health management.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Dhakad, Technical Assistant, emphasized the importance of crop rotation and the use of green manure to maintain soil quality.
Progressive young farmers from the district actively participated in the program.
