Successful Removal of Rare Broncholith at Pacific Medical College, Umarda

Udaipur: A highly rare and complex medical procedure was successfully performed at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur. Chairman Ashish Agrawal informed that a 66-year-old male patient was admitted to the department with complaints of breathlessness and hemoptysis (coughing up blood).

As part of the initial evaluation, a chest X-ray and HRCT thorax were conducted, which revealed abnormal findings. For further detailed assessment, a bronchoscopy was performed. During the procedure, doctors identified a hard, stone-like structure in the right middle lobe of the lung, medically termed as a broncholith.

The rare broncholith was carefully and successfully removed using a Dormia basket. The complex procedure was carried out by an experienced team of doctors including Dr. Mayur Devaraj, Dr. Raju Kottakota, Dr. Sanidhya Tak, Dr. Karanraj Singhal, Dr. Anirudh, Dr. Hasit, Dr. Shubhnish, Dr. Gaurang, Dr. Ajay, Dr. Aman, Dr. Devendra, Dr. Diksha, Dr. Manisha, Dr. Medha, Dr. Muskan, Dr. Pawan, Dr. Raj, Dr. Shyam, and Dr. Tanya.
