Paras Health Udaipur Introduces Advanced Therapy for Safe Dialysis in ICU Patients

Udaipur: On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Paras Health Udaipur has launched an advanced Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) system to enhance care for critically ill kidney patients in the ICU. This therapy, also known as continuous renal therapy, helps continuously purify the blood while gradually removing toxins and excess fluids from the body, stabilizing patients with severe kidney conditions.

The initiative is being led by Dr. Ashutosh Soni, Consultant Nephrologist, in collaboration with the hospital’s Nephrology and Critical Care teams. CRRT is a specialized form of dialysis used for the most critically ill ICU patients. Unlike conventional dialysis, which is typically completed in a few hours, CRRT runs continuously for up to 24 hours. This slow and steady process maintains stable blood pressure while gradually removing toxins and excess fluid, making it particularly beneficial for patients who cannot tolerate regular dialysis.

Dr. Ashutosh Soni, Senior Consultant, Nephrology at Paras Health Udaipur, said:
“Patients with kidney disease often arrive at hospitals when their kidneys are almost completely damaged. Early symptoms of kidney disease are mild and easily overlooked. Timely health check-ups, proper management of diabetes and hypertension, and early detection of kidney dysfunction can prevent complications. When complications occur, intensive treatments like CRRT become necessary. World Kidney Day reminds us that awareness and preventive care are as crucial as advanced therapies.”

Dr. Prasoon Kumar, Facility Director at Paras Health Udaipur, added:
“Critically ill patients with acute kidney injury often cannot tolerate conventional dialysis due to unstable blood pressure. CRRT allows us to gradually remove toxins and excess fluids over a longer period, providing safer dialysis support in the ICU. It enables our clinical teams to manage fluid balance and organ support effectively until the patient recovers.”

CRRT is commonly used in cases of acute kidney injury and other severe illnesses, where the kidneys cannot adequately remove toxins. By slowly clearing toxins and balancing fluid levels, it reduces strain on vital organs and aids recovery in patients facing severe infections, organ failure, or post-surgical complications. The therapy also fosters close coordination among nephrologists, urologists, and critical care specialists, enabling continuous monitoring of complex cases.

With this initiative, Paras Health Udaipur continues to expand its advanced nephrology, urology, and critical care services, ensuring specialized kidney care is accessible to patients in Udaipur and surrounding regions when it is most needed.
