Bhilwara:Sangam University, Bhilwara, successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Semiconductors and Their Applications” in collaboration with the School of Basic and Applied Sciences and the Sangam ITBI Cell. The workshop featured eminent speakers Prof. Ajay Agarwal, Microelectronics Expert from IIT Jodhpur, and Mr. Sarvar Singh, Founder & CTO, Sarbit Innovation, IIT Jodhpur.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Karunesh Saxena emphasized the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor sector. He stated that Sangam University is committed to industry-oriented training, fostering innovation, and preparing students for careers in microelectronics, chip design, and advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
Prof. Ajay Agarwal delivered an insightful lecture on fundamental semiconductor concepts, chip fabrication processes, and applications in sensors, IoT, and advanced electronics. He also highlighted emerging opportunities under India’s rapidly evolving semiconductor ecosystem and the India Semiconductor Mission.
Mr. Sarvar Singh conducted an extensive hands-on demonstration of silicon wafers, micro-devices, and packaged components. He explained wafer structures, step-by-step photolithography processes, and cleanroom-based fabrication of thin-film heaters and sensor elements, providing students with practical exposure to real-world semiconductor manufacturing.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sarbit Innovation–IIT Jodhpur and Sangam University. This collaboration is expected to open new avenues for students and researchers in the fields of microelectronics and semiconductor technology.
The workshop received an enthusiastic response from students and faculty members. Industry representatives Mr. Subhash Tiwari, General Manager (Engineering), and Mr. Anil Kumar Chaplot, Assistant Manager, Sangam Group, also engaged in meaningful discussions with Prof. Agarwal on industry requirements, skill development, and future collaborative initiatives, further strengthening industry–academia integration.
The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Gunmala Gugalia, Dean In-Charge, School of Basic and Applied Sciences. Faculty members Mr. Rajasav Kaushik, Dr. Manoj Kumawat, Prof. R. K. Somani, Dr. Vikram Singh Bhati (Physics), Dr. Abhishek Saxena, and Dr. Atul Gandhi (Electrical Engineering) contributed significantly to the successful organization of the event.
The program was held under the continued guidance and academic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Karunesh Saxena, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, and Registrar Dr. Alok Kumar. The proceedings were efficiently conducted by Prof. Seema Kabra.
